I fear we will be be exploring my Summer Loves up until "Part 20" or more (!), so for creativity's sake I will hence be using much more colorful titles. For today, we journey into Part 2's fun territory of the garden--Kheli's garden, to be precise. Kheli is our wonderful and sweet friend who has a beautiful and bountiful garden each and every Spring, Summer and Fall. No matter how hot and humid, she can be found tending to this verdant and tranquil space in her backyard. She is ever so generous with us--always bringing us baskets filled to the brim with gorgeous varieties of tomatoes, beans, zukes, squash, okra, cukes, peppers--you name it! This Summer she is off for the month in Tanzania--staying in the orphanage where she is always sending her beautifully made quilts and hand-knit sweaters. She is certainly in her element there with the children. She left us strict instructions to go and pick, pick, pick in her garden while she is away. So, we have done just that--and it has been my delight to watch the boys excitedly discover a potato or red cherry tomato along with Kheli's kind father and sweet niece (whom P. loves!).
Hunting for potatoes and excitedly holding each up for admiration upon discovery
Picking purple okra
Oh that sunhat--oh those boots (he never leaves the house without them)!
Discovering lots of cherry tomatoes in the undergrowth--and showing me every one!
I have just loved watching the boys discover, learn and wonder in this garden. Thank you, Kheli!
